Stryker-Rodda, Kenn.  Revolutionary Census of New Jersey.  Cottonport, LA:  Polyanthos, 1972.
This is an index, based on ratables, of the inhabitants of New Jersey during the period of the American Revolution.  New Jersey federal census records for 1790, 1800, 1810, and 1820 are not in existence.  So this book may be helpful in determining if the person for whom you are searching lived in New Jersey at this time.  However, the only information given is the person's name and their township of residence.

County Atlas of Warren New Jersey.  N.Y.:  F. W. Beers & Co., 1874.
Usually referred to as the Beers Atlas, this is a detailed atlas of the towns and townships of Warren County as of 1874.  This is of interest to historians and genealogists because it shows the locations of homes and businesses along with the owners' names.  It also shows the locations of prominent things such as schools, churches, mines, and ponds.  There is now an online index to this atlas.

City Directories

Polk's Easton, Pennsylvania and Phillipsburg, New Jersey City Directory.  Boston:  R. L. Polk & Co.
The library has these directories for 1961, 1963-65, 1967-78, and 1980-83.  These were the directories that listed the person's name, his address, his occupation, and even the members of the family.

Shampanore, Frank.  History and Directory of Warren County, New Jersey.  Washington, N.J.:  Shampanore & Sons, 1929.
Shampanore refers to this book as a pictorial history of Warren County, but there is some text included.  Approximately one-third of the book is a city directory, but for some reason, it does not include Phillipsburg.  There is no index.

Weaver & Kern.  Warren County History and Directory.  Washington, N.J.:  Press of the Review, 1886.
This directory gives a brief history of the state of New Jersey and of the County of Warren and includes practical advice to farmers, businessmen, and housekeepers.  The book also provides a city directory for Phillipsburg, Washington, Hackettstown, Belvidere, and the townships.  For each person listed it gives their name, occupation, and address.
